In the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room, on the patio, in the yard, pests are everywhere! They stay close to humans because we are their supermarket. They want our food, fresh or discarded. A simple lapse, like dropping a cookie crumb on the floor, calls out the entire ant army in seconds. And these ants don’t play like the Reggae Boyz. If they turn on you, you better run like crazy.
Mosquitoes and flies are even more annoying. One wants your blood and will harass you any which way to get it. The other goes everywhere and takes their germs with them! The ickiest of them all, you will agree, are the rodents. They smell funky and leave a trace wherever they go.
It’s a constant battle to keep all these pests out of your living space. But one way that helps is to make sure your habitat is ultra clean. When there are no crumbs or spillage in the kitchen or elsewhere, pests move elsewhere. Here are some specific measures to keep pests away.
- Wipe counter tops as soon as you’ve finished using
- Don’t leave trash around, especially overnight…if an ant army can take over the cookie crumb in seconds imagine what they’ll do with a whole night
- Keep garbage bags/bins covered
- When eating in e.g. the bedroom, use a tray
- Keep foods in containers e.g. use sealed container to store bread/snacks e.g.
- Do some heavy cleaning at least once a week…or hire cleaning service to do it for you
- Seal holes in the walls, floor and cupboards with plaster.
If you have just moved in, hire a pest control service to give your home a clean sweep. Or you can buy pest removal products at Rapid True Value. It will be money well spent.
